CDM Coordinator Services

Construction and Design Management Regulation 2007 set out requirements for safety process for building, refurbishment and other works. Projects that are encompassed by these Regulations either require 500 ‘man hours’ or greater than the duration of 30 days in order to complete the Construction phase.

CDM Coordinator (Construction Design Management Coordinator)

First Environment is able to assist clients in performing the role of CDM Coordinator, also assisting the other duty holders in fulfilling their obligations under the CDM Regulations 2007. Principal Duty Holders under the CDM Regulations 2007 include the Client, Architect, CDM Coordinator & Principal Contractor.

The CDM Coordinator is appointed by the Client but does not take the ultimate liability away from the Client. The CDM Coordinator advises and ensures that measures are implemented, if required to ensure compliance.

Duties under CDM 2007 (for all duty holders)

  • Elimination / Reduction of risk by design throughout the construction phase and for the lifespan of the structure.
  • To ensure that effective communication is maintained throughout all phases of the project.
  • To ensure that all parties have both reasonable time and correct information in order to complete their specific role.

Duties of the CDM Coordinator

  • To investigate and ensure competency of all duty holders involved within the project, advise the Client on any compliance issues regarding Health and safety and liase with HSE when required.
  • To liase with the design team regarding potential design and proposed construction methodology.
  • To ensure suitable arrangements for the welfare of operatives onsite, the outline of construction methods and Health and Safety measures are suitably developed to allow work to commence on site (this is done on behalf of the Client)
  • Assist in ensuring that clear lines of communication are maintained for the duration of the project and that all relevant information for the maintenance and use of the structure is collated.
