Investigation of drinking water taste complaint

Drinking Water Taste and Odour

The quality of drinking water can be affected by many different factors and lead to complaint over taste, taint, appearance or odour. Often these can be referred back to the water supplier for investigation to private households and businesses however this may not always be the case. Where the drinking water is served from a larger factory or office installation, vending machine or dispenser unit support and external advice may be required.

Common causes of taste and odour complaint can arise from:

  • use of incorrect fixtures and fittings
  • high levels of bacteria
  • corrosion of metal components
  • degradation of plastics, hoses and washers
  • connection to inappropriate water supplies

First Environment has undertaken to support clients in investigating many instances of occupant complaint over drinking water quality. This can often be of significant concern in the workplace where water quality is at question. We can arrange to attend site and undertake initial sampling, analysis and inspection by one of our consultant team. This will often identify the source, cause and remedy to the issue in a single visit.
