Ductwork and Mechanical Ventilation System Hygiene Surveys

The Approved Code of Practice, L24 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 Paragraph 52 states that Mechanical ventilation systems (including air-conditioning systems) should be regularly and adequately cleaned. They should also be properly tested and maintained to ensure that they are kept clean and free from anything which may contaminate the air.

First Environment provides inspection and testing services to enable duty holders to demonstrate that their obligations under Regulation 6 of the Workplace (health, safety and welfare) Regulations are being met. First Environment does not undertake duct cleaning or similar contracting services so our condition inspections are undertaken from an independent perspective. Services include:

  • Deposit thickness testing to ductwork
  • Deposit analysis
  • Microbiological sampling to air supply and extract systems
  • Inspection of air supply and extract systems
  • Measurement of filtration efficiency
